James Cress Florist started life as a single 'mom and pop store' in Manhattan, NY in 1903. Owned by the Cress family since that time, the shops have since branched out onto Long Island; specifically in Smithtown and Port Jefferson Station. In 2011, Gary Cress was talked out of retirement by Brian McCarthy, the charismatic CEO of The McCarthy Group of Florists. McCarthy wished to make NY his eleventh state and the historic Long Island shop presented him with the right opportunity. In June 2011, McCarthy bought the business and the Smithtown building and hired Cress as his NY sales manager. Today, James Cress continues to provide flowers for the small family occasion to huge society events such as Bar Mitzvah's and Long Island Weddings.
